Cabinet has approved a contract valued at $51 million to Marksman Limited, to provide security at the University of Technology's (UTech) Papine campus, as well as its other locations at Slipe Pen Road (Kingston) and in Montego Bay.

Cabinet also approved the award of a contract of $101, 437 million for security services for the Kingston and Montego Bay Free Zones, to Ranger and Protection and Security Limited.

In addition, Cabinet approved an $ 8.9 million contract to Kier Construction for the design and construction of the Dry River Bridge (Hope River Bridge) in Harbour View, under the Transportation Infrastructure Rehabilitation Programme.

The existing bridge collapsed during the flood caused by the passage of Tropical Storm Gustav on August 28 and 29, 2008. The new structure will accommodate four lanes of traffic, consistent with the requirements given and projected traffic volumes along the Eastern Kingston corridor.

Minister with Responsibility for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, Hon. Daryl Vaz, outlined these developments at Wednesday's (February 3) Post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House.
