Is Jamaica there yet ? ..... can political parties really take advantage of the internet to appeal to a new kind of voter ?

The Final Ad and Discussions should be about Trust.

The Final Ad should Highlight what the PNP SAID in the RECENT PAST, and what they are SAYING NOW about the following:

  1. Free Tuition
  2. Free Health Care
  3. IMF Standby Arrangement / Agreement
  4. Low Interest rate Policy
  5. Stabilization of the Exchange Rate
  6. JDX
  7. Public sector Rationalization
  8. Divestment on Air Jamaica
  9. Divestment of the Sugar Factories
  10. Divesting other Loss Making Entities

This will speak volumes to Credibility or the lack thereof

That was no debate for youths of the party

The structure of the debates did not help me to understand the issues. The young journalist seemed to be too hard on their own counterparts and asked the questions to them as if they were or are ministers of the cabinet. Next time the debates should not involve just youth criterion it should be a debate about the manifestos of each party. The questions should be posted to those waiting to go into those positions whether they be young or old. A youth forum would have gotten at the issues affecting youth and would be less tribal.

I think that the JLP debaters were in New style of politics mode while those P..were just getting a chance to continue the propogandizing. Eventually the politics of Jamaica will change with the PM being Andrew Holness but until we get there we need to continue to give them some of their own medicine.

The questions asked were for cabinet ministers and not for the young people to express their views and their visions for the new style of politics in Jamaica.

I think that JLP needs to demand that speakers get to develop their points and if possible themes and moots for the rest of debates be given to the speakers. If not then I see the moderators yapping at the presenters-including the PM to finish what he has to be thinking out on his feet. Perhaps, what the debates commission is calling a debate is really a question and answer session to get information for the opposition party. That should have been done in Parliament.

We do not need to focus on winning the debates, we need to focus on winning the elections. I think that Warren, Sapphire and Marlene appealed to the young and uncommitted voters. Message was sent and received.

Labour will still win the elections. I soon predict how many seats!

Message of The JLP

I really like the message of the JLP so far. However there needs to be more said and felt in the advertisements. Some suggestions are as follows

  • Tell the country that the PNP's strategy over the years was always to wage an attack on the character of different leaders of the JLP at any cost. Lying, fabricating, making much of nothing, blaiming actions of others on the leaders, deamonizing their characters. They did it with Bustamante, Mr. Seaga, Mr. Golding, and now they are after Mr. Holness. So effective and skillful has this been, that it has caused the division of the JLP in the 1980's. No other political organization in Jamaica has been able to so successfully spread propaganda. But that the JLP was about Issues and Fixing Jamaica's problems

  • The PNP has been been able to successfully recruit and, or install persons in most, if not all, key areas of the society. The media, the associations and unions, the universities, the churches, human rights group among others.  They always had a loud voice. JLP supporters on the other hand are mostly quiet.

  • The PNP has also been extremely successful at disguising its motives.

  • Put excerpts of the Parliment sitting in which Dr. Phillips challenged a member of the Government to come outside and repeat what he said, and when Mrs. Simpson-Miller stood up and challenged the government member to go outside and say what he said to Dr. Phillips.

  • Speak more about the intention and benefit of the Free Tuition & Health Initiatives, and all the other 2007 election promices that were realized fully or in part

Where do i go to see Campaign

Where do i go to see Campaign adds?

HOW many seat will the JLP win?

I think we will win 40 or more if we have a GOOD election night. HERE are some seat I  hope the JLP will try and win central westmoreland I know It will be tough ,but  I hope we have good ground work there SOUTH st.catherine with the creation of new seats heard the pnp margin reduce to 200  LAST one love for us to win  is SE ST .ANDREW I know THESE are all pnp strong seat but think the tide is changing and if we put good ground work in place who knows we may win one of them.

North East St Elizabeth

There is an urgent need for a stronger candidate in North East St Elizabeth. What is the party waiting on to realize this? Have we resigned to losing this seat? A Ruel Reid  from Balaclava would be a good candidate. Act now

PNP, worst disaster

Had it been the JLP that had wrecked this country, they would not have the ghost of a chance at the next election. The JLP needs to get their public relation machinery up and running, well-oiled like never before. All the PNP can talk about now is Manatt and Dudus. There is nothing about containing crime, creating jobs, growing the economy all of which they fail to do in their eighteen years in office. At every chance, the JLP need to remind Jamaican of how and why Mr. Ogilvie was killed and how the assassins left Jamaica for Cuba and returned when the PNP regain power. Dr. Davies left parliament, putting the nation business aside to be at the crime scene of Willy Hoggart, and both himself and Dr. Phillips attended the funeral. Ms. Heather Robinson not hugging up gunman had to quit because she got no support from the PNP. Not to mention the corruption, scandal and nastiness that went on. I totally agree with Dennevert, let the people know, the PNP is the worst disaster to have hit Jamaica!

Pre election

The JLP should not take any not even an ounce of the blame for what the JPS is doing to Jamaica. You need to constantly telling the people that the PNP gave them that power. If you notice the JPS stop using the phrase: We do care.

Tell the people of Jamaica what the PNP did to the country while they were in ofice for almost 20yrs. Remind them of them of the high murders, the bad roads, JPS sellout, bauxite stupid deal, massive closing down of business, cost sharing, light bulb, secret MOUs, the division in the PNP, Portia is a disaster, the PNP ran Jamaica into the ground and more.

Remember they are going to use the Manatt thing on you so be very prepared, that is their strongest point

Politics in Eastern St. Thomas

If the electorate is not kept in the loop, then not only will we lose the local government election in Eastern St. Thomas, but we will also lose the general election when it is called. It is imperative that whichever candidate is chosen to represent the constituency has the FULL support of the divisional councilllors.

Walking Out of Parliament, Conceding Defeat, Opposition Role

I completely understand your position. However, in all fairness, the JLP have walked out of parliament before. In 2005 after the police operation in Tivoli Gardens, the JLP walked out of Parliament. However, it is at the discretion of the party, whether or not ot stage a walk-out. It's a controversial happening, but at the same we give and take as to the reasons.

You are also right when you say that Mrs. Simpson-Miller doesn't understand her role as Opposition Leader. Your role IS to oppose. But also to oppose and present viable alternatives. That is something, which the PNP lacks and will continue to lack with Mrs. Simpson-Miller as head of the party. You are also right when you say that bi-partisanship is needed for the socio-economic development of the country. The PNP is not the alternative to the country's problem now, JAMAICANS ARE with the JLP as the government.

Any political leader can concede or refuse to concede electoral defeat. It is just a way of 'licking your wounds' per say. It doesn't matter if she doesn't concede, because she probably won't concede the next general election defeat when the JLP retains power, and if she is still there when we retain power again and again. Just a reminder, Mr. Seaga has not conceded his 1989 defeat.
