Prime Minister Bruce Golding has indicated to Chinese investors that Jamaica is ready and willing to receive Chinese investment to expand the production of Blue Mountain coffee.

"What we are trying to encourage is Chinese investment in additional acreages of Blue Mountain coffee," Golding told reporters of the China Daily newspaper earlier this month. "We can produce four times the volume of coffee that we are now producing but it requires capital, it requires technology and it requires that kind of investment and what we are saying to China, let's not try to share up the limited coffee that we have, let's go produce some more coffee" Golding said.

The prime minister was leading a delegation on an official visit to the People's Republic of China. During his visit he met Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao as well as CEO of the State Development and Investment Corporation, Wang Huisheng.
