Inflation is Going Down - PM Golding

Prime Minister Bruce Golding said that Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Audley Shaw has assured him that the inflation rate for this fiscal year would finish lower than what was projected.
He was speaking at the launch of the Jamaica Infrastructure Development Programme (JIDP) in Lewisville, St. Elizabeth on August 31.
South Africa promotes trade ties with Jamaica

The South African High Commission is seeking to promote stronger business linkages between Jamaican entities and those in South Africa with an exhibition which coincides with the country's 16th year of freedom from the apartheid regime.
Hosted in collaboration with the Gauteng Economic Development Agency of South Africa, the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce and Jamaica Trade and Invest, the trade exhibition will run from today till Thursday at The Jamaica Pegasus.

Small business owners in the tourism sector have been keeping their businesses afloat through financial assistance from the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF).
Proprietor of Bubbling Springs in Middle Quarters, St Elizabeth, Lincoln Fagan, says the loan saved his property. After starting his business in 2000, Mr. Fagan confesses that it was rough getting things off the ground.

THE International Monetary Fund's (IMF) Executive Board is scheduled to meet tomorrow to make a final decision on the US$1.25-billion Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) being sought by the Government of Jamaica (GOJ).
While there are clearly numerous factors contributing to the performance of economies internationally, some of the restructuring and targets, either required or supported by multilateral institutions, including the IMF, helped to bring forth improvements.
