    The Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, the Honourable Olivia Grange, MP has said that Jamaica will be rooting for Dustin Brown in his game against the British number one, Andy Murray, at the U.S. Open Tennis Championship in New York on Friday (September 3).

    "Dustin has proven that he has the Jamaican spirit. We see it in his commitment and determination; and we all want to see him succeed," said Minister Grange.

    The heavy showers that occurred in Western Jamaica yesterday (August 29), has resulted in one death, the injury of three persons, and 17 motor vehicles being damaged in the Long Hill area of St. James.

    AS difficult as it may seem to those around her, Ann-Merita Golding is trying to maintain a normal life as the daughter of Jamaica's Prime Minister Bruce Golding, and continues to do what she can to keep that posture intact.

    The 26-year-old Ann-Merita is enrolled as a student at Nova Southeastern University where she is pursuing her doctorate in Audiology, a branch of science that studies hearing and balance-related disorders.

    Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) supporters yesterday voiced loud and clear support for their embattled leader, Prime Minister Bruce Golding, who is facing calls for his resignation over his handling of the Manatt, Phelps & Phillips affair.

    "You nah resign. You nah leave," declared several JLP supporters from across the Corporate Area as Golding addressed a meeting of the party's Area Council One in Papine, St Andrew.

    Two United Kingdom (UK) based veteran reggae artistes have been honoured for their years in the music industry and their work in promoting reggae music in the UK.

    Singers , Owen Gray and Alexander 'Dimples' Hinds, received special awards from the British Reggae Artiste Recognition Association at its annual Artiste to Artiste Brawta Awards Ceremony, held recently in North London.
