JLP WILL DEBATE AN EMPTY CHAIR IF IT HAS TO
General Secretary of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), Senator Aundre Franklin this evening said that the Party will debate an empty chair if it has to in light of the mixed signals coming from the Opposition Peoples National Party (PNP) on its participation in debates being organized by the Jamaica Debates Commission (JDC).
JLP SADDENED BY ANTHONY ABRAHAMS’ PASSING
General Secretary of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), Senator Aundre Franklin said he and the Party are deeply saddened by the passing of former JLP Minister and Member of Parliament Anthony Abrahams.
JLP/G2K DELEGATION HEADS FOR CHINA
Minister of State in the Ministry of Transport and Works, the Honourable Othneil Lawrence, MP and President of Generation 2000 (G2K), Delano Seiveright are among four young JLP and G2K leaders who will on Monday August 8 depart Jamaica for a ten day visit to China as official guests of the Communist Party of China (CPC). They will visit the cities of Beijing, Taiyuan and Dalian. The delegation is being led by the Honourable Othneil Lawrence.

STATEMENT BY THE JAMAICA LABOUR PARTY ON THE REPORT OF THE COMMISSION OF ENQUIRY
The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has taken note of the report of the Commissioners who enquired into the Coke Extradition request and the engagement of Manatt, Phelps and Phillips (MPP).
The JLP is satisfied that the Commissioners have considered the main issues that were put before them and made findings and recommendations in respect of the issues.
MIKE HENRY TELLS SUPPORTERS TO HIT THE GROUND RUNNING
Chairman of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), the Honourable Mike Henry today (May 7) told Generation 2000 (G2K) and JLP supporters in New York City to go out and hit the road running now to ensure that the JLP is victorious for the upcoming general election. He made the comments at a one-day retreat hosted by New York City civil society group Proud Jamaica Foundation and the Generation 2000 (G2K) New York City chapter. JLP Deputy General Secretary Joel Williams, G2K President Delano Seiveright and G2K General Secretary Collin Virgo form part of the delegation to New York City.
JLP CHAIRMAN MEETS WITH WARMINGTON
Chairman of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), the Honourable Mike Henry met with former Member of Parliament for South West St. Catherine Everald Warmington this afternoon.
Mr. Henry pointed out that all members of the Party must at all times show respect and good order to all citizens including members of the press. This he said is a standard by which the JLP has been grounded since its formation. It is after all incumbent on us as leaders in the society to set a good example as we seek to build a society predicated on strong morals and values.
JLP condemns PNP for spewing nonsense re attorney
The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) condemns the People’s National Party (PNP) for its malicious attack on attorney-at-law Frank Phipps Q.C., for his cross-examination of former Commissioner of Police, Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin, at yesterday’s sitting of the Commission of Enquiry into the handling of the extradition request for Christopher Coke.
DARYL VAZ CATEGORICALLY DENY TAX CLAIM
JLP candidate for General Secretary Daryl Vaz today categorically denied allegations that he owes hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes to the state. Mr. Vaz said further that as at November 2010 based on a current agreement with Tax Department neither he personally nor does any company that he is involved with have any outstanding matters with the Tax Department.
BOBBY MONTAGUE FOR JLP DEPUTY CHAIRMAN
Generation 2000 (G2K), the young professional affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), today supported the candidacy of Member of Parliament (MP) and Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister with responsibility for Local Government Robert ‘Bobby’ Montague for the post of Deputy Chairman. This comes following consultations with the newly elected management committee and private discussions with Chapter executives and members here and abroad over the last few weeks.
