PARLIAMENT TO MEET UP TO THREE DAYS A WEEK AS GOVERNMENT PUSHES LEGISLATIVE AGENDA

The Government will be moving with alacrity and diligence in advancing the legislative agenda of the Houses of Parliament.
The legislative year will end March 17, 2010. Between now and March 17, the Parliament will make its best attempt to complete 12 Government matters and 44 private members’ motions.

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) in a release this evening said that the Peoples National Party (PNP) is clearly intent on making a mockery of Parliamentary proceedings and reducing the business of Parliament to trivia. The PNP it is understood arrived at Parliament today although they were previously informed that Parliament will reconvene on January 19. We consider it frivolous for the Opposition to show up at Gordon House claiming that they were ready for Parliament and the Government was not.
Bustamante Hospital for Children to undergo renovation and expansion - GNN

Minister of Health, Hon. Rudyard Spencer says the Bustamante hospital will in the near future be undergoing extensive renovation and expansion. The Minister made the remarks during a recent function to honour the Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation, Corporate sponsors and performers, who assisted in the concert held to provide financial support to the hospital.

JLP DEEPLY SADDENED AT PERALTO’S PASSING

The Jamaica Labour Party in a release today said it is deeply saddened at the sudden passing of long standing Party member, Businessman and Author, Mr. Ryan Peralto. Mr. Peralto was 75 years old.
Mr. Peralto passed away early this morning at the Andrews Memorial Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica. He previously complained of chest pains and was subsequently taken to Hospital.
