The Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, the Honourable Olivia Grange, MP has congratulated two-time Olympic 200 metres champion, Veronica Campbell-Brown on winning the gold in the 60 metres final at the 13th IAAF World Indoor Championships on Sunday (March 14) in Qatar.
Minister Grange said:
"I was so pleased to hear the news of Veronica's victory. She is a world class athlete who works hard and continues to make Jamaica proud.
"She is an inspiration to all athletes.

WASHINGTON, USA (CMC) -- Caribbean countries are to benefit from a financial grant approved by the Multilateral Investment Fund (FOMIN) to finance new sustainable tourism projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The FOMIN, an autonomous fund of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) that supports projects for small and microenterprises, will offer grants to finance the creation of small tourism business networks, train entrepreneurs in the region to offer high-quality services and market their services.

Prime Minister Bruce Golding welcomed the return of Ladies Pro Golf Association (LPGA) to Jamaica as a boost to the country's image as a sports destination.
Mr. Golding was speaking at the Jamaica launch of the LPGA-sanctioned Mojo 6 Raceway Golf tournament on March 14 at the Caymanas Country Clubhouse in St Catherine. Called the "sprint of golf", the raceway-style tournament with a purse of US$1 million is scheduled for May 1 and 2 at Cinnamon Hill golf course in Rose hall, St James.
Caymanas Park in no position to attract investors now

WHILE Government is hell-bent on giving up ownership of Caymanas Park, the island's only horserace track is currently in no position now to attract investors and will have to undergo expensive upgrades to make it viable.
Prime Minister Expresses Sympathy Following Earthquake in Chile

Prime Minister, Bruce Golding, has sent a message to President Michelle Bachelet of Chile on the loss of lives and destruction caused by the severe earthquake that hit central Chile early this morning.
The death toll, not yet known, is reported to have already exceeded 150. The damage to buildings and infrastructure is extensive.

The Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, the Honourable Olivia Grange, MP has congratulated the "outstanding" Jamaica aquatics team that participated in the 2nd Special Olympics Latin America now on in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The 4x25m relay team of Andrew Bartholomew, Nicholas McBean, Crystal Knight and Racquel Lovindeer won the gold medal in their event.
Andrew Bartholomew also won the gold medal in the 25m freestyle.
